Job Description:

An exciting opportunity has emerged for a temporary Homelessness Prevention and Advice Officer to join one of Adecco's public sector clients in a temporary contract, initially for 3-6 months (but highly likely to be extended).

Our client is based in Sutton in South London, offering a full-time role for 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with office attendance required 2 days every fortnight.

The role requires previous experience in:

  • Interviewing clients and resolving housing issues
  • Processing homeless applications under Part VII of the Housing Act
  • Advising and preventing homelessness
  • Assessing eligibility for private sector options under the Housing Act
  • Knowledge of Homelessness Code of Guidance and homelessness prevention strategies
  • Housing and Homelessness Law expertise and resolving complex housing problems
  • Caseload management and teamwork skills
  • Handling demanding service users and partners, with strong IT and administrative skills
  • Updating Personal Housing Plans (PHPs)
  • Writing accurate decision letters

Previous experience in a similar local authority role within the last two years and strong knowledge of the Homelessness Reduction Act are highly beneficial. A car driver is not required. Applicants should be able to start within two weeks.
