Job Description:

An exciting opportunity has emerged for a temporary Homelessness Prevention and Advice Officer to join one of Adecco's public sector clients in a contract initially lasting 3-6 months, with a high likelihood of extension.

The role is based in Sutton, South London, and is full-time (36 hours/week, Monday to Friday). Office attendance is required 2 days every fortnight.

Applicants should have experience in:

  • Interviewing clients and resolving housing issues
  • Processing homeless applications under Part VII of the Housing Act
  • Advising and preventing homelessness
  • Assessing private sector options under the Housing Act
  • Following the Homelessness Code of Guidance and the Council's prevention agenda
  • Housing and Homelessness Law knowledge and resolving complex housing problems
  • Managing caseloads and working in a team of 6-8 officers
  • Handling demanding service users and partners, with strong IT and admin skills
  • Updating Personal Housing Plans
  • Writing accurate decision letters

Previous experience in a similar role within a local authority in the last two years and strong knowledge of the Homelessness Reduction Act are highly beneficial. A driver's license is not required.
