Job description

Job Overview:

  • Work as part of a team of officers, remaining flexible to conflicting demands.
  • Attend meetings as requested.
  • Possess confident working knowledge of Part 7 and Part 6 of the Housing Act 1996.
  • Provide sound housing advice to applicants, staying updated on statutory and case law changes, as well as local and national homelessness issues.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist and support individuals facing homelessness, understanding their needs and circumstances.
  • Conduct assessments to identify suitable housing solutions.
  • Guide clients on available support services, benefits, and resources.
  • Advocate with housing authorities, landlords, and agencies to secure housing options.
  • Keep informed about local housing policies, regulations, and resources.
  • Maintain accurate case records of client interactions and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners for a coordinated approach.
  • Build relationships with community organizations and stakeholders.
  • Participate in community events promoting housing stability.

Requirements:

  • Experience in a similar homelessness and housing role.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of local housing policies and social services.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse individuals and organizations.
  • Enhanced DBS check within the last 12 months; fast-track options available via the update service.
