Job description

Homeless Support Worker – Redditch & Bromsgrove

Are you ready to make a real difference?

Join Maggs, a local charity with over 40 years of impact, as a Homeless Support Worker and be part of a dedicated, compassionate team helping people move from crisis to stability.

Full Time | 37 hours/week | £27,900 – £28,583 (depending on experience)

Based in Redditch

We’re looking for a skilled, confident, and empathetic individual to support rough sleepers, and those experiencing or at risk of other forms of homelessness across Redditch and Bromsgrove.

At Maggs, we engage with the unengaged— building trust with people excluded from services and helping them reconnect with the support they need. You’ll offer practical help, build strong relationships, and walk alongside people as they take steps toward secure housing and improved wellbeing.

What You’ll Do
  • Build trusted relationships through face-to-face support
  • Help people access services and basic essentials via our day centres
  • Carry a caseload and keep clear records to track progress
  • Advocate at multi-agency meetings
  • Run drop-ins and develop day care services
  • Take part in outreach (early mornings/occasional evenings) to reach rough sleepers
  • Strengthen local partnerships and contribute to long-term solutions
What We’re Looking For
  • Empathy, passion, and belief in people’s potential
  • Experience supporting those facing homelessness or multiple disadvantages and vulnerabilities
  • Great at building relationships
  • Confidence in managing challenging behaviour and staying calm under pressure or in emergencies
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a small team and independently
  • A positive, reliable, and flexible attitude
  • Full driving licence and access to a vehicle for work
Why Maggs?
  • Be part of a values-driven, supportive team
  • Flexible working hours + TOIL for early/late shifts
  • Opportunities for learning and development

At Maggs, we meet people where they are — with empathy, persistence, and respect. There’s no set deadline to apply; we’re committed to finding the right person at the right time. If that’s you, we’d love to hear from you.

We are actively interviewing and scheduling interviews with suitable candidates as applications come in. We encourage interested applicants to apply at their earliest convenience.
