Homeless Prevention Officer, Greater Manchester

Pay rate £23.44 per hour. Contract role, Local Government Housing.

We are recruiting for an experienced Homeless Prevention Officer in Tameside. This is a contract role, and you will need to have experience in a similar role in a Local Authority setting.

Details:

  • The team is responsible for the Council’s statutory homelessness and housing needs service. This includes homeless prevention, housing advice, Temporary Accommodation, administration of the Council’s Housing Register, and allocations of social housing. The Council’s Rough Sleeper Initiative (RSI) team is also based within the service.
  • We are looking to appoint highly motivated and enthusiastic people to work as Homeless Prevention Officers in the service, for a fixed term for 6 months. We are looking to assign specialist areas of work to some of these posts including triage of contacts through the online portal, Working on legacy cases and other housing and homeless related activities.
  • Your main role will be around the prevention and relief of homelessness. We are looking for people who understand the causes and reasons for homelessness and have a working knowledge of the current legislation. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills. You should have experience of working with vulnerable people across a range of issues and the ability to work collaboratively with customers and a range of partners to secure a suitable housing solution.
  • You will be required to participate in a duty rota to provide face to face services to people who are homeless or at risk of being homeless which could be within the office, home visits or at other locations across the area.
