Contract Reason: Secondment Cover

The Role

The Homeless Prevention Officer role is based at Tameside Housing Advice, which is the homeless prevention service for Tameside, providing advice, information, and housing options for those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

As a Homeless Prevention Officer, you will ensure effective access to housing advice and assistance to prevent or relieve homelessness. Your workload will be busy and varied, involving completing homeless assessments, determining duties owed to applicants, and preventing homelessness through timely actions under current legislation, including developing and managing Personal Housing Plans. You will support vulnerable customers with their housing needs, addressing support requirements in line with the council’s policies, agreements, and legislation.

About You

You should be able to multitask effectively, manage and prioritize a busy workload, and analyze and process information via computer records. Strong customer service skills are essential. You should be a team player and capable of building strong working relationships. Knowledge of the Housing Act 1996: Parts 6 & 7 and relevant regulations would be advantageous.
