Homeless Prevention Officer

Are you passionate about preventing homelessness and supporting vulnerable individuals? Conwy Council is seeking a dedicated Homeless Prevention Officer to provide person-centred interventions and case management for those at risk of homelessness.

THE ROLE

As a Homeless Prevention Officer, you will support individuals and households facing housing insecurity, ensuring compliance with the Housing (Wales) Act 2014. You will work collaboratively with multiple agencies to provide tailored support and advice.

  1. Manage and assess homelessness cases in line with legislation
  2. Deliver interventions to prevent homelessness, such as mediation and housing advice
  3. Develop and implement personal housing plans for service users
  4. Work closely with private landlords and lettings agencies to secure housing options
  5. Collaborate with external partners, including social care, health services, and probation
  6. Provide outreach services, including home visits and community engagement
  7. Maintain accurate case records and ensure GDPR compliance
THE CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar role, supporting individuals at risk of homelessness and working within housing services.

  1. Strong knowledge of homelessness legislation and housing policies
  2. Experience in welfare rights, debt advice, or mediation services
  3. Ability to work under pressure and manage a complex caseload
  4. Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  5. IT proficiency, including database management and Microsoft Office
  6. Experience in multi-agency working and partnership collaboration
  7. A full UK driving licence and the ability to travel as required
THE CONTRACT

37 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Temporary position
Based in Colwyn Bay, with travel across Conwy as required
The pay rate for the role is £20.00 per hour LTD company rate. The PAYE equivalent is £17.05 per hour, inclusive of holiday.
