Job summary

Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council is seeking a Family Substance Use Worker to support children, young people and families affected by substance misuse within the Children’s Services team. The role focuses on relationship-based work, safeguarding, and multi-agency collaboration to achieve positive changes for vulnerable families.

The post is fixed term until 31 March 2027, 37 hours per week, and requires experience with children and families, safeguarding knowledge, and strong communication

Qualifications

• Experience working with children, young people and families affected by substance misuse or complex needs.
• Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection processes.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
