Job summary

Direct Line Group is evolving its pricing and underwriting function. You will contribute to delivering the Home Insurance strategy by implementing changes to the Radar rating algorithm and supporting the pricing team across initiatives.

In this hybrid role, you will build and maintain the Radar Live rating engine, ensure robust testing, and collaborate with stakeholders to align approaches. A strong analytical mindset and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mathematics/Computer Science or related numerical subject.
• Familiarity with SQL, SAS, Python, Tableau preferred.
• Experience in the Insurance industry preferred.
• Strong problem-solving and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Build, maintain, and monitor the Radar Live rating engine ensuring compliance, accuracy, and efficiency.
• Ensure comprehensive model testing is run/validated for all changes.
• Enhance processes and testing to improve efficiency without compromising accuracy.
• Engage with stakeholders to align Pricing & Underwriting approaches.
• Support department objectives and governance, and manage risks.

What you'll be doing

As a valued member of the team, you'll contribute to the delivery of the Home Insurance strategy through accurately and efficiently implementing changes to the Radar rating algorithm.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership for building, maintaining, and monitoring the Radar Live rating engine so that it is compliant, accurate and efficient

• Ensure comprehensive model testing is run/validated to prove out all change

• Support in the enhancement of processes, including testing to create efficiency whilst maintaining accuracy

• Excellent spoken and written skills so to support engagement with various stakeholders and the wider Pricing & Underwriting community, to ensure alignment with approaches

• Contributing to overall Department/DLG wide objectives, strategies and priorities.

• Be aware of Pricing and Underwriting Controls and Governance and abide by the controls in place

• Identify and manage risks associated with the role, adhering to the company risk framework. Communicate any price, model, or data issues promptly.

• Developing your own skills and knowledge such that you have the expertise required to achieve current and future business requirements.

• Reinforce the culture and core values of Direct Line Group through appropriate behaviours and Actions

• Support the Home Change Team's Defect Management process. Aiding with diagnosis, deriving, testing and implementing any required fixes.

Our hybrid model offers a 'best of both worlds' approach. When you'll be in the office depends on your role and team, but colleagues spend at least 2 days a week in the office

What you'll need

• Educated to degree level or equivalent in Mathematics/Computer Science or a related degree or similar numerical subject

• Familiarity with programming languages and software such as SQL, SAS Python, Tableau (preferred)

• Experience in the Insurance industry (preferred)

• Strong problem-solving skills & a keen eye for attention to detail

• Excellent communication and a team player

• Good knowledge of IT principles and processes

• Creativity, Passionate, Inquisitiveness nature & Innovative

• Analytical mindset
