Job Title: Home Improvement Agency Support Officer

Contract: Permanent

Location: Hybrid – Plough Lane, Three Elms Trading Estate and home working

Hours: 37 hours per week

Salary: HC06 £28,142

Closing date: Sunday 5th October 2025

The Team

An exciting opportunity to join a well-established and critical team within Herefordshire Council. The Home Improvement Agency is a vital service that helps people maintain safe, secure, and suitable homes, enabling vulnerable residents to live independently. We offer:

  • Adaptations for independent living — Help people stay in their homes by arranging adaptations such as stairlifts, ramps, level-access showers, grab rails, and widened doorways.
  • Handy Person Service — Small home repairs, safety improvements like handrails and locks, and minor adaptations to help residents live independently and safely in their homes.
  • Grants and funding support — Help residents access Disabled Facilities Grants

The overall goal is to:

  • Enable independent living
  • Reduce hospital admissions (by preventing falls or unsafe living conditions)
  • Support quicker hospital discharges (by making homes safe to return to)
  • Improve housing quality for vulnerable residents
About You

We are looking for an enthusiastic and organised individual to join our team. In this role, you will provide vital support to the service by carrying out a range of administrative tasks, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and excellent customer service.

Responsibilities
  • Handling enquiries from customers in a polite and professional manner
  • Gathering, recording, and maintaining accurate information and records
  • Supporting colleagues and contributing to a positive team environment
  • Assisting with general office duties such as filing, data entry, and correspondence
