Job summary

Sainsbury’s is seeking a Home Delivery Driver in Swindon to deliver groceries door-to-door, ensuring on-time arrivals and great condition of goods. You’ll perform van checks, assist customers with substitutions, and stay informed about our products and promotions.

When not delivering, you’ll help in-store as needed. You’ll thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy environment, using initiative and teamwork to deliver exceptional doorstep service.

• Comfortable in a fast-paced environment and willing to learn new tools.

Responsibilities

• Deliver groceries in a 3.5 tonne van to customers on time and in good condition.
• Ensure van is clean, organised, and roadworthy; secure delivery cases.
• Assist customers with questions/substitutions and communicate delays.
• Build knowledge of products, promotions, and services to offer recommendations.
• Assist across the store when not on deliveries.

Job description

What you’ll be doing:

• Driving a 3.5 tonne van to deliver groceries to our customers doorsteps, on-time and in a great condition


• Completing checks to ensure the van is organised, clean and roadworthy, and that delivery cases are secure before getting out onto the road to drive safely in a variety of locations and conditions


• Serve our customers brilliantly, supporting with any questions and substitutions, and keeping them aware of any delays


• Build great knowledge about our products, services and promotions to help provide recommendations


• When not out making deliveries, you will be helping across the store as needed

Eligibility:

• You must be over 18 and have held a full UK/EU driving licence for at least 12 months with no more than 6 points on it


• You will complete an online driving risk assessment as part of your interview and, if you’re successful, there’ll be a driving assessment when you join us


• You must have Right to Work eligibility in the UK
