Job summary

Sainsbury’s is hiring a Home Delivery Driver to join our team in the UK. You’ll drive a 3.5 tonne van to deliver groceries door-to-door, ensuring on-time arrivals and high standards. You’ll assist customers, handle substitutions, and stay informed about our products and promotions.

When not delivering, you’ll support store tasks and share a proactive approach to safety, compliance, and efficient operations, contributing to a positive doorstep experience.

Qualifications

  • Must be over 18 and hold a full UK driving licence for at least 12 months
  • No more than 6 points on licence
  • Right to Work in the UK
  • Online driving risk assessment will be completed as part of the interview process
  • Driving assessment on joining the team

Responsibilities

  • Drive a 3.5 tonne van to deliver groceries to customers on time and in good condition
  • Perform vehicle checks to ensure roadworthiness and secure delivery cases
  • Assist customers with questions, substitutions and delays as needed
  • Build knowledge of products and promotions to provide recommendations
  • Assist in-store tasks when not delivering to support the team

Job description

What you’ll be doing:


  • Driving a 3.5 tonne van to deliver groceries to our customers doorsteps, on-time and in a great condition

  • Completing checks to ensure the van is organised, clean and roadworthy, and that delivery cases are secure before getting out onto the road to drive safely in a variety of locations and conditions

  • Serve our customers brilliantly, supporting with any questions and substitutions, and keeping them aware of any delays

  • Build great knowledge about our products, services and promotions to help provide recommendations

  • When not out making deliveries, you will be helping across the store as needed

Eligibility:


  • You must be over 18 and have held a full UK/EU driving licence for at least 12 months with no more than 6 points on it

  • You will complete an online driving risk assessment as part of your interview and, if you’re successful, there’ll be a driving assessment when you join us

  • You must have Right to Work eligibility in the UK
