Category/Function/Team Introduction

The DMC team integrates Digital Marketing, Media, Retail Media, e-Commerce, and Shopper Marketing, aiming to deliver the best consumer experiences for our brands in Home Care. Our key mission is to be Unilever’s fully integrated growth engine, driving brands to be unmissable through world-class Digital Marketing, Media, Digital Commerce, and Shopper Marketing.

Job Purpose

The Commerce Manager oversees eCommerce and Retail Execution (shopper marketing) projects for Home Care in the UK, with an approximate 70/30 split. You will be an eCommerce expert, responsible for implementing strategies and driving growth, while leading shopper marketing initiatives for our five brands: Persil, Cif, Domestos, Comfort, and Surf.

Success in this role requires a strong understanding of the UK retail landscape and the ability to ensure Unilever’s brands are visible and impactful at key digital touchpoints along the shopper journey to purchase.

This role collaborates closely with sales, category, marketing, and the DMC team to develop growth plans for the UKI cluster and ensure their flawless execution across all channels and levers, including Omni, Value Channel, Pure Players, Quick Commerce, Portfolio, Content, Supply Chain, and Media. You will report to the Senior Commerce Manager.

Responsibilities
  1. eCommerce Strategy & Planning
  • Align customer plans (assortment, promotion, taxonomy) with Europe team recommendations and UKI strategy.
  • Ensure effective execution of the plan by sales, retail media, and content teams (big bet launch, COTC availability, visibility).
  • Collaborate with DMC to innovate in social media, influencers, shopper marketing, and retail media.
  • eCommerce Execution, Financial & Market Share Tracking
    • Monthly reporting of channel performance with insights.
    • Monitor and analyze digital commerce initiatives to inform continuous improvement.
  • Core Portfolio Readiness & Optimization
    • Adapt innovations to online requirements.
    • Develop a tailored online portfolio based on digital revenue insights.
    • Coordinate certification of Unilever’s online portfolio with global and UK teams (ISTA 6, FFP).
  • Shopper Marketing (approx. 30% of role)
    • Create and execute shopper marketing strategies for Homecare projects, including traffic and engagement programs.
    • Work with Brand Marketing and retail teams to align strategies.
    • Coordinate activation plans with DMC.
    • Partner with eCommerce teams for integrated campaign planning.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration
    • Work with marketing, sales, and supply chain teams for cohesive digital strategies.
    • Collaborate within DMC teams to enhance in-store and performance marketing across retail media and brick-and-mortar stores.
    • Implement social-first and influencer-first strategies in eCommerce activities.
