Job summary

Tamworth Borough Council is seeking an enthusiastic finance professional to lead the Operational Finance team. This home-based role includes two on-site days per month for meetings, with up to 40% site attendance when required.

Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will guide procurement, ledger system administration, VAT, insurance and banking services while providing high‑quality financial advice to Members and senior officers and delivering effective financial support across the Council.

Qualifications

• AAT qualification and experience in local authority finance.
• Proven track record in leading, motivating and developing staff.
• Ability to provide high‑quality financial advice to Members and senior officers.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Operational Finance team delivering proactive financial support.
• Oversee procurement, ledger system administration, insurance and risk management.
• Manage leasing, VAT, creditors and banking services.
• Provide financial guidance to Members, senior officers and staff.
• Drive continuous improvement and develop staff through training and coaching.
