Job summary

Activate Camps is seeking a Hockey Coach for Let's Play Hockey across the UK. Lead engaging hockey sessions for children, implementing core skills and game strategies with a strong safety focus.

You will work with enthusiastic coaches in a fun environment, supported by camp training and curriculum resources. Travel between venues and seasonal commitment are required, with competitive hourly pay and holiday entitlement.

Qualifications

• DBS check required or willingness to complete one.
• Sound safeguarding understanding.
• Basic Health and Safety knowledge.
• Experience leading a group of children.
• Experience delivering hockey coaching independently.
• Hold a Level 2 Hockey Coaching qualification or equivalent.
• Passionate about working with children.
• Detailed knowledge of hockey.

Responsibilities

• Lead a group of children, delivering structured hockey sessions.
• Implement technique coaching: stick handling, passing, shooting, game strategy.
• Encourage teamwork and fair play through BEST ethos.
• Ensure all sessions and drills are safe and well-supervised.
• Support camp operations including set-up, registration and supervision.
• Communicate with parents as needed and enhance the camp experience.

Hockey Coach - Let's Play Hockey

Location: Various UK Locations

Pay: £10.00 - £12.70 per hour (depending on age and experience) + holiday pay

Hours: 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM OR 9:30 AM - 5:30 PM (venue dependent)

Contract: Seasonal / Temporary

Travel Expenses: 30p per mile after the first 35 miles per day (lift-share uplifts available)

Your Role as a Hockey Coach

• Lead a group of children, delivering structured and engaging hockey sessions.
• Implement technical coaching, focusing on core skills, stick handling, passing, shooting, and game strategy.
• Encourage teamwork and sportsmanship through our BEST (Bravery, Enthusiasm, Sportsmanship, Teamwork) ethos.
• Ensure all sessions, especially drills and match-play activities, are conducted safely.
• Support camp operations, including set-up, registration, and supervision during breaks.
• Communicate with parents when required and contribute to the overall camp experience.

What We’re Looking For

Essential

• A Valid Enhanced DBS (or willingness to complete one).
• Sound safeguarding understanding.
• A basic understanding of Health and Safety.
• Experience leading a group.
• Experience delivering hockey coaching independently.
• Passionate about working with children.
• Hold a Level 2 Hockey Coaching qualification or equivalent.
• Detailed knowledge of Hockey.

Desirable

• Good ability to communicate with parents.
• Previous experience working on a holiday camp.
• Evidence of regular CPD.
