Job description

About The Job

Games Workshop has a rare and exciting opportunity for an Hobby Product Developer to join the Studio team. Trailblazers in the miniature painting industry, they research and develop new and existing tools, brushes and accessories such as figure cases, palettes and painting handles, carefully growing them into products that are not only commercial successes but reliable must-have staples of every miniature hobbyist’s toolkit.

With a proactive approach, you will work closely with other team members and external partners to design, refine, improve and thoroughly test new and existing tools, brushes and accessories.

Innovative and with a natural curiosity, we’ll look to you to explore the ‘what’s, whys and how’s’, diligently testing, evaluating and reporting on what improvements can be made.

Thorough and methodical, you know that your results will be used by hobbyists globally, and take this responsibility seriously, applying care and respect to everything you do.

The ideal person for this role will understand our hobbyists and what they need, intuitively know what good looks like, and be able to quantify that with excellent written and verbal communication skills. We’ll look to you to proactively seek answers, feeding them into clear, concise and comprehensive feedback documents and written briefs.

Organised and mindful, you will manage a workload that includes multiple projects at different stages of development with ease, knowing how to plan tasks to get the most out of the time you have. Although you will juggle many projects, you will maintain stringent product testing parameters to ensure what is approved for production is the absolute best it can be, whilst always being prepared for the unexpected and changing department priorities.

Suitable applicants for the role will have experience of using SolidWorks or other relevant CAD software.

Working at Games Workshop

At Games Workshop we are looking for people who will do their best to understand the needs of the company and to put those needs first when they are at work. Because of this we believe that what you are like, hence the attitude you show to work and the way you choose to behave is even more important than your skills and experience.

The Warhammer World site is based just outside of Nottingham city centre and benefits from a nearby tram stop and free onsite car parking.

In return for your hard work, you will receive:

  • 33 days holiday per year (including public holidays)
  • matching contributory pension scheme up to 7.5%
  • profit share bonus (subject to GW meeting profit targets)
  • option to join our Share Save scheme
  • staff discount of between 25% and 50% on our products!
