A dynamic and inclusive Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Newham is seeking a passionate and experienced HLTA to join their team as soon as possible. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real impact by supporting students who require additional guidance to re-engage with learning in a nurturing and structured environment.

Role Highlights:
  • Full-time, permanent position at a vibrant PRU in Newham
  • Support students with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs, helping them access learning in a positive and structured way
  • Deliver small-group and one-to-one interventions to support academic progress and personal development
  • Assist teachers in planning and delivering engaging lessons tailored to students' individual needs
  • Provide classroom cover when required, ensuring continuity of learning
  • Work closely with teachers, support staff, and external professionals to implement behaviour support plans and intervention strategies
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive environment where students feel safe and valued
Experience & Qualifications:
  • HLTA qualification or significant experience as a Teaching Assistant in a PRU or alternative provision
  • Experience supporting students with SEMH, challenging behaviour, or additional learning needs
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with students, helping them develop confidence and resilience
  • A proactive and adaptable approach to working in a fast-paced environment
  • Enhanced DBS check required
