Job summary

Randstad Education is recruiting for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant on a 36-hour week basis at a Cranleigh site. This role focuses on supporting learners with diverse needs and providing short-term cover for teaching staff.

Applicants should have HLTA status or be willing to train, with strong communication and organisational skills, plus a DBS check. A semi-rural location requires personal transport and eligibility to work in the UK is mandatory.

Qualifications

• HLTA status or be willing to undergo training.
• Ability to interpret information for students with a wide spectrum of ability.
• Confidence in written and oral communication with strong organizational skills and attention to deadlines.
• Good interpersonal and negotiation skills in solo or team settings.
• Enthusiastic, committed and empathetic towards learning.
• Access to own transport due to semi-rural location.
• Eligibility to work in the UK.
• Required DBS check.

Responsibilities

• Lead lessons and provide short-term cover for teachers as needed.
• Collaborate on lesson planning and create engaging learning resources.
• Promote development by managing behaviour and supporting student independence.
• Track progress and communicate with parents while following school policies.
• Provide pastoral care, supervise breaks and trips, and support on/offsite activities.
• Collaborate with specialists and mentor new staff or work experience students.
• Utilize ICT tools to support learning and complete required training.
• Supervise students across the school to ensure safety.
