The Role

Are you a passionate and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference? A vibrant and supportive Special Educational Needs (SEN) school in Leeds is seeking a dedicated HLTA to join their team. This rewarding role involves supporting pupils with a range of complex needs, leading small group interventions, and occasionally covering classes under teacher guidance. The school prides itself on its inclusive, nurturing environment and is looking for someone with creativity, resilience, and a genuine passion for SEN education.

Requirements

  • HLTA qualification or degree
  • Experience and comfortable covering classes in the absence of the teacher
  • Some SEN experience preferred
  • Ability to relate well to children and adults and communicate at all levels
  • Ability to deal effectively with students presenting challenging behaviour using de-escalation techniques as appropriate
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team
