HLTA - Higher Level Teaching Assistant. Permanent – Immediate start. Salary £22,500 - £26,000 per year. An outstanding secondary school in Central Birmingham is looking for a HLTA to take on responsibilities within a high-performing setting.

Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality HLTA support across departments, delivering planned learning and leading targeted intervention groups.
  • Provide short-term class cover (including PPA and absence).
  • Adapt materials and resources to meet individual and group needs.
  • Track pupil progress and use data to inform next steps.
  • Collaborate with teachers and pastoral teams to remove barriers to learning.
  • Model strong behaviour routines and contribute to a calm, consistent classroom climate.
The Candidate
  • Organised, confident practitioner who can deliver whole-class teaching when required.
  • Clear, confident classroom and written communication; ability to build effective relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Proactive, reliable, and committed to inclusion and high standards.
  • Uses data to inform next steps and support pupil progress.
Requirements
  • Degree or HLTA status (or equivalent) – strong academic background.
  • Clear, confident classroom and written communication.
  • Enhanced DBS – Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.
  • Desire to work in education/with children – Commitment to pupil progress and safeguarding.
  • Experience working with children – Prior classroom/cover or intervention experience is desirable but not essential.
