Are you an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant looking for a role where you can make a genuine difference to young people who have struggled in mainstream education? A small specialist SEMH school in Walsall is looking for a committed HLTA to support students who have been excluded from mainstream schools and help them rebuild the skills, confidence and relationships needed to succeed in education.
This is an opportunity to join a setting with a clear purpose: helping students overcome barriers to learning and, wherever appropriate, successfully transition back into mainstream education.
As a HLTA, you will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to deliver learning, provide additional classroom support and help students develop positive attitudes towards school. You will need to be confident managing challenging behaviour, establishing clear boundaries and building trusting relationships with young people who may have had difficult experiences in education.
Previous experience working with SEMH, challenging behaviour, Alternative Provision or excluded students is essential. The successful HLTA will be patient, resilient and consistent, with a genuine belief that young people can make positive changes when given the right support.
