Job description

Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) - Join a Vibrant and Inclusive Primary School

Cheadle Area
Start Date: September 2025
27.5 hours per week (Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 3:00pm)

Are you a passionate and experienced HLTA looking to take the next step in your career within a warm, inclusive, and child-focused learning environment? Aspire are working with a well-regarded primary school in the Cheadle area to recruit Higher Level Teaching Assistants to join their supportive and collaborative team.

The Role:
As a HLTA, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping learning experiences for pupils across different year groups. Working closely with class teachers, you'll support planning and lead lessons, deliver interventions, and contribute to the overall development of children in the classroom.

Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver planned learning activities to individuals, small groups, and occasionally whole classes.
- Monitor and assess pupil progress, adapting activities to meet diverse learning needs.
- Support curriculum planning, particularly in areas such as Literacy, Numeracy, Science, SEN, or Early Years.
- Collaborate with teaching staff and contribute to a multi-disciplinary team environment.


What We're Looking For:
To be successful in this role, you should bring:
- A recognised HLTA qualification (or equivalent - NVQ Level 4 or above).
- Previous experience supporting children's learning in an educational setting.
- Strong curriculum knowledge and child development understanding.
- The ability to plan and lead engaging, inclusive lessons.
- Experience supporting or leading teams and contributing to school improvement.
- Confident ICT skills and familiarity with classroom technologies.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- English and Maths qualifications equivalent to NVQ Level 2.
