Job description

Engage education are currently seeking an experienced Higher level teaching assistant to work at an SEMH all boys school in Wandsworth.

The school provides education for boys ages 5 to 19 with Social, emotional and mental health needs. The aim is to provide students with consistent support nurturing their educational and emotional wellbeing. They promote independence and create empathetic and ambitious young adults.

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant you will work 1:1 with pupils as well as completing planned coverage of classes and leading group sessions. You will need to be ready for a challenge and have a passion for seeing students succeed.

Job Description:

  • Planned coverage of a class in place of their usual teacher or group coordinator

  • Planned coverage of support or provide additional Support to help regulate pupils who require one-to-one support

  • Lead 1:1 and group sessions for specific needs

The ideal applicant will be:

  • Understanding of Special Educational Needs

  • Ability to work in a child focused way

  • Effective communication skills

  • Ability to recognise and understand young people’s needs

  • Good organisational skills, ability to plan, manage and prioritise workload.

  • Ability to develop constructive and appropriate relationships with pupils
