Job: HLTA

Location: Primary Academy, Lewisham, Southeast London

Start date: 3 November 2025

Actual Annual Salary: £28,074 - £29,962

Contract: Permanent, 35 hours a week (8am to 4pm), Mondays to Fridays, 42.9 weeks

About the Role

Aston Education is working with an Ofsted Good two-form entry Primary Academy in Lewisham, Southeast London, looking for a permanent full-time HLTA (Higher Level Teaching Assistant) to start on 3 November 2025.

As an HLTA, you'll create an engaging learning environment and plan and teach whole class lessons across all key stages (EYFS, KS1 and KS2) to cover teachers' PPA time.

Responsibilities

Please note the following responsibilities are described in relation to the HLTA role.

  • Plan and deliver engaging whole-class lessons across EYFS, KS1 and KS2 to cover teachers' PPA time
  • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Support the teaching and learning of pupils with a range of needs, including SEND (ASD/ ADHD/ attachment difficulties)
  • Collaborate with school staff to monitor and support pupil progress
Qualifications, experience and skills
  • A*-C grade in English and Maths at GCSE level or equivalent
  • TA qualification
  • HLTA qualification is desired
  • Experience working with pupils in a primary school
  • Experience leading whole classes or large groups
  • Experience working with children with SEND (ASD/ ADHD/ Attachment difficulties)
  • Ability to speak and teach German or French at Primary level is desired
  • Calm, patient and caring attitude with a good sense of humour
  • A good understanding of child protection and safeguarding guidelines
  • Passion to make a positive difference
