HLTA
Ashford, Ramsgate, Folkestone, Sandwich, Dover Kent areas
Start date: ASAP
£95 - £120 per day (dependant on experience relevant to role)

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join Vision for Education to work in a variety of specialist settings, including schools that support pupils with ASC, SEMH, PMLD, SLD and complex needs.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in supporting children with special educational needs (SEN), helping them achieve their full potential in a nurturing and stimulating environment.

The Role:

  • Plan and deliver tailored learning activities under the direction of the class teacher and SENCO.
  • Support individuals and small groups of children with diverse learning needs.
  • Assist in the assessment of pupils progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive and engaging learning environment.
  • Liaise with teachers, parents and external agencies as needed.
  • Provide cover supervision across classes when required.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience of working with children with a range of special educational needs.
  • Knowledge of strategies to support children with additional needs, including speech and language, ASD, ADHD, PLMD and SEMH.
  • Desirable SEN skills include:-
    • Experience with speech and language strategies.
    • Understanding of visual supports, such as PECS or Makaton.
    • Ability to adapt learning for children with ASD and ADHD.
    • Knowledge of sensory processing difficulties and suitable interventions.
    • Familiarity with strategies to support pupils with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.
    • Skills in using assistive technology or communication aids.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexible, proactive and able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A genuine passion for supporting the learning and development of children.

Requirements:

  • Right to work in the UK
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to do one via Vision for Education)
