Qualifications

• Previous experience of speciality.
• Experience of audit and research.
• Relevant specialist course or equivalent experience.
• Degree (or working towards).

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned care for a group of patients without direct supervision.
• Ensure the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care.
• Assist and advise staff in the delivery of patient care.
• Maintain accurate clinical observations and act accordingly.
• Undertake nursing procedures including STI screens and smears.
• Monitor patients' progress towards safe and timely discharge.
• Act as the patient's advocate.
• Work under direct supervision of an Advanced Nurse Practitioner.
• Refer patients to appropriate specialists.

Skills

Good written and verbal communication skills

Ability to organise dayward activities and use initiative

Ability to solve problems and contribute new ideas

Competency in medication administration including IV medications

Education

Registered Nurse

Teaching Qualification or equivalent experience
