The History department is a collaborative and dynamic team with a shared passion for bringing the past to life and exploring its relevance to the present. We offer a rigorous and engaging curriculum that covers a wide range of historical periods and themes, from ancient civilizations to modern world history. We encourage students to engage with primary sources, participate in debates and discussions, and develop their historical research and analytical skills.

About the Role:

  • Teach History across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the possibility of teaching at GCSE and A Level depending on experience and interest.
  • Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that cater to a variety of learning styles and abilities.
  • Utilize a range of teaching methods and resources, including interactive activities, debates, source analysis, and technology, to bring history to life for students and foster a deep understanding of historical events and their significance.
  • Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments, set targets, and provide constructive feedback to support individual learning journeys.
  • Contribute to the department's curriculum development and resource creation, ensuring that our History curriculum remains relevant, challenging, and inspiring for all students.
  • Foster a love of History in students, encouraging them to participate in history clubs, trips, and competitions, and to consider further studies or careers in history and related fields.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues in the department and across the school to create a cohesive, supportive, and stimulating learning environment where students thrive.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your teaching practice and keep abreast of the latest developments in History education.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Holds QTS or equivalent.
  • Possesses excellent subject knowledge in History.
  • Demonstrates a passion for teaching History and a commitment to student success.
  • Has strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.
  • Is confident in building rapport with students and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Has a good understanding of the National Curriculum for History and relevant examination specifications.
