History Teacher – Full Time | Secondary School in Hertford | September Start

Location: Hertford

Supply Desk is working in partnership with a well-regarded secondary school in Hertford to recruit a passionate and knowledgeable History Teacher. This full-time role is available from September and presents an exciting opportunity to join a supportive humanities department that values creativity, academic rigour, and student engagement.

This is the perfect role for a teacher looking to inspire young minds through the exploration of the past and help students develop critical thinking and analytical skills.

The Role:

• Deliver engaging and challenging History lessons to students across Key Stages 3 and 4 (KS5 teaching experience desirable but not essential).
• Plan and assess work in line with curriculum guidelines and school policies.
• Encourage historical inquiry, discussion, and independent learning.
• Maintain high standards of behaviour and engagement in the classroom.
• Contribute to the wider life of the school, including trips, clubs, and cross-curricular activities.
• Participate in departmental planning, staff meetings, and CPD.

Ideal Candidate:

• Holds QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or equivalent UK-recognised teaching qualification.
• Has experience teaching History in a UK secondary school setting (ECTs also welcome).
• Demonstrates strong subject knowledge and a passion for history education.
• Possesses excellent communication and classroom management skills.
• Committed to student progress, inclusivity, and professional development.
• Willing to undergo or currently holds an enhanced DBS check.
