A heritage-focused organization seeks an experienced landscape architect for the Historic Places Panel to advise on urban regeneration and public realm sustainability. The role involves occasional site visits and collaboration with stakeholders, aimed at improving the historic environment. While not remunerated, reasonable expenses will be covered. We have one vacancy on the Historic Places Panel (HPP) for an experienced landscape architect with exceptional knowledge and experience of strategies for delivering greener and more sustainable public realm in the urban environment. This is an occasional opportunity to contribute expertise to recovering places in urban decline and to learn about placemaking from a like-minded multidisciplinary panel with privileged access to local council leadership. The Historic Places Panel makes several immersive visits each year. The post could suit a landscape architect with master-planning experience, or an urban designer with a track record of achieving green and blue networks in urban regeneration or similar skillsets and experience. The Historic Places Panel works with Historic England teams and stakeholders to listen, share ideas and provide authoritative advice to developers, local authorities, regeneration agencies and community representatives working in historic places, particularly around regeneration strategies and major development initiatives. All Panel members are expected to contribute effectively to the overall work of the Panel and will be required to demonstrate the commitment and capabilities needed. Please note that these positions are not remunerated, although all reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
Appointments are made by the Chairman of Historic England following appropriate interviews and in line with the Government's seven principles of public life (the Nolan Principles). We regret that those candidates who are not shortlisted will not be given feedback.
