Job summary

The National Trust is seeking a part-time Collections Assistant to help care for a historic house and its precious collections. The role involves cleaning and daily care of objects, textiles and furniture, and presenting them to visitors in a welcoming way.

Two part-time positions are available, each with a 22.5-hour week pattern. Shifts include days across Thu/Fri/Sat or Sun-Tue, with a friendly, inclusive team and opportunities to support volunteers.

Qualifications

• Interest in history and detail; friendly and open with people.

Responsibilities

• Look after a historic house and its collections of objects, furniture and works of art.
• Present the work and the collections to visitors and help make each person’s day memorable.
• Assist with day-to-day cleaning and care of the collections (objects, textiles, furniture).
• Monitor environmental conditions in rooms and check for wear and tear.
• Keep accurate records and provide support to Collections and House volunteers.
