Job Description:

As a Medical Laboratory Technician at IDEXX, you will be a key contributor at one of the largest veterinary diagnostic companies in the world. You will perform laboratory testing that helps veterinarians diagnose and treat pets across the UK. This is a full-time permanent role (37.5 hrs/week) with competitive benefits.

Histology:

IDEXX Histology departments process tissue samples from animals for diagnostic evaluation by our team of Veterinary Pathologists. IDEXX Histology Technicians and Technologists practice embedding, microtomy, staining, and special staining techniques in their roles.

In this Role:

• Depending on your experience, you will process tissue samples for our Pathologists.
• You will also be involved in grossing, embedding, microtomy, staining, and special staining techniques.
• You will be responsible for setting up and running lab tests and reporting results according to SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
• You will perform and monitor inventory of supplies, equipment, and reagents used.
• You will work closely with colleagues to exchange information and ensure efficient processes.

What You Will Need to Succeed:

• You will have a BSc in Biology, Biomedical Science, Animal Science, Zoology, or equivalent.
• You are a go-getter, a hard worker, and someone passionate about science, innovation, and working on behalf of global pet health.
• Ideally, you will have experience working in a laboratory, including setting up, running, and reading lab tests.
• Operating laboratory equipment (microscopes and/or clinical diagnostic analyzers) would be a plus.

Schedule:

• This position can be filled for either the early or late shift. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 5:00 am to 2:30 pm for the early shift or 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm for the late shift. The specific shift will be discussed with the hiring manager based on business needs.
• Reliable and dependable attendance is essential.
