Job summary

Rehlko is seeking a Workshop Generator Engineer to maintain, service, and prepare diesel generators for deployment. You will diagnose faults, perform routine servicing, and ensure equipment meets safety and quality standards before leaving the depot.

This hands‑on role requires strong mechanical and electrical capabilities, precise attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high‑quality work in a busy workshop environment in the UK.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience with diesel generators or similar mechanical/electrical plant.
  • Able to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and service manuals.
  • Full UK driving licence preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out servicing, maintenance, and repair of diesel generators ranging from small sets to large multi‑megawatt units.
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using appropriate tools, equipment, and diagnostic software.
  • Complete pre‑hire inspections, ensuring all equipment meets quality and safety standards.
  • Prepare generators, distribution equipment, and components for deployment to customer sites.
  • Conduct load bank testing, functional checks, and performance verification.
  • Maintain accurate service records, job sheets, and compliance documentation.
  • Ensure workshop activities comply with ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO45001.
  • Support continuous improvement to enhance reliability and efficiency.
  • Assist with workshop organisation, housekeeping, and stock control.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams for smooth workflow.

The Role

As a Workshop Generator Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring our fleet is maintained, serviced, and prepared for deployment. Working within a busy workshop environment, you will diagnose faults, carry out repairs, complete routine servicing, and ensure all equipment meets Rehlko’s quality, safety, and compliance standards before leaving the depot.

This is a hands‑on technical role requiring strong mechanical and electrical capability, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering high‑quality work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using appropriate tools, equipment, and diagnostic software.
  • Complete pre‑hire inspections, ensuring all equipment meets Rehlko’s quality and safety standards.
  • Prepare generators, distribution equipment, and associated components for deployment to customer sites.
  • Conduct load bank testing, functional checks, and performance verification.
  • Maintain accurate service records, job sheets, and compliance documentation.
  • Ensure all workshop activities are completed in line with ISO9001, ISO14001, and ISO45001 procedures.
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance reliability, efficiency, and preparation standards.
  • Assist with workshop organisation, housekeeping, and stock control.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider engineering and operations teams to ensure smooth workflow and timely delivery.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental requirements within the workshop environment.
The Person
  • Proven experience working with diesel generators or similar mechanical/electrical plant.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and service manuals.
  • Experience with engine systems (e.g., Volvo, Scania, Perkins, MTU) is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of control panels, alternators, and generator control systems (e.g., Deep Sea, ComAp) is desirable.
  • Strong understanding of workshop safety and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Full UK driving licence preferred.
