Job Description:

Are you interested in joining a busy builders merchants? Do you want great benefits and opportunities for career progression? Do you have experience with small tools and equipment hire, or transferable sales and customer service skills from a different environment? We are looking for a sales and customer-focused manager to head up our tool hire operation in Burton upon Trent.

Location: Based on Hawkins Lane, Burton Upon Trent. We employ 9 staff and operate 2 vehicles to serve our customers effectively.

Working hours: 7:30 am - 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday, and every other Saturday 8:00 am - 12:00 pm.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and test our fleet of plumbing-specific hire tools to ensure they meet standards.
  • Build strong relationships with customers to foster trust and repeat business.
  • Develop and coach team members, focusing on sales and operational excellence.
  • Manage stock levels to optimize equipment utilization and meet customer demands.
  • Assist with loading/unloading customer vehicles and serving at the sales counter.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills to provide quality customer service.
  • Possess some sales experience; knowledge of mechanical and electrical equipment within the hire industry is preferred.
  • Complete a 12-month training program with a professional qualification upon successful completion.
Candidate Profile:

Support experience in a similar size tool hire store or environment is preferred. Transferable skills in small tools maintenance, sales, customer service, and commercial acumen are valued.
