We're looking for an experienced Hire Controller to join our clients busy depot with the efficient hiring and off-hiring of equipment and materials. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with previous hire desk experience to take ownership of key processes, deliver excellent customer service, and play a vital role in supporting our operations.
The successful candidate will be a confident communicator, highly organised, and able to manage multiple tasks with accuracy and attention to detail.

Hire Controller - Requirements
- Previous experience in a Hire Desk or similar role.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Confident negotiating and building strong relationships with customers and colleagues.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office packages (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good business awareness and a customer-focused approach.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, use initiative and handle matters tactfully and diplomatically.
Hire Controller - Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of the hire and off-hire process, advising and processing orders to completion.
- Maximise potential hire income to meet depot targets.
- Deliver service levels that promote repeat business and customer recommendations.
- Answer incoming calls promptly and deal with customer enquiries effectively.
- Raise and issue quotations and convert enquiries into confirmed orders.
- Coordinate and complete the off-hire process, ensuring all information is accurate and up to date.
- Handle customer callouts and breakdowns quickly and professionally.
- Liaise with the Depot Assistant Manager on deliveries and collections.
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate customer contracts and hire system information.
- Notify customers of any additional contract charges and raise credits when required.
- Work closely with the service department to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Carry out all hire desk administration, paperwork, and reporting as required.
- Adhere to all company Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality standards and procedures.
