Overview:
The HIPAA Privacy Analyst investigates potential privacy breaches and noncompliance with Sentara HIPAA policies. The analyst is responsible for implementing and administering all aspects of Sentara's Privacy policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with HIPAA, HITECH, Information Blocking, and other federal and state privacy requirements. Participates in other duties as necessary or assigned.
- In-depth knowledge of HIPAA Privacy and Breach Notification Rules, the HITECH Act, Information Blocking Rules, and state data breach laws is required.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate at all organizational levels.
- Excellent customer service, analytical, and investigative skills.
- A high level of initiative, self-direction, emotional intelligence, accountability, and confidentiality.
- Working knowledge of the HIPAA Security Rule is beneficial.
- Experience in auditing, investigating, and processing regulatory violations, including conducting investigative interviews, is strongly preferred.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree required.
Certification/Licensure
- No specific certification or licensure required.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years as a Privacy Analyst.
- Investigative experience.
- Knowledge of HIPAA Privacy, HITECH Act, and Information Blocking Rules.
- Knowledge of state data breach laws.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with case files, demonstrating good detective skills.
- Prior experience with Insurance Claims is a plus.
- Confident customer service skills, with the ability to triage calls effectively.
- This position is hybrid; flexible work schedules will be considered.
