Job summary

East Midlands Councils is seeking a proactive Highways Training Officer to join the Highways Training Centre team in Derbyshire. You will deliver Street Works and Highways training, develop engaging course content, and help learners achieve nationally recognised qualifications, blending technical highway expertise with teaching.

You will manage training records, participate in audits, and plan courses while ensuring compliance with current legislation and Derbyshire Highways service goals.

Qualifications

• Experience in training and assessment.
• Experience in highways/engineering environment.
• Occupational competence and sector-specific expertise.
• CAT & Genny knowledge and safe-working practices.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality Street Works and Highways training.
• Develop and deliver engaging course materials.
• Maintain accurate training records and support audits.
• Coordinate with the Highways Training Compliance lead.
• Teach theory and practical sessions for street works and highways.
• Ensure training complies with current legislation and Derbyshire Highways aims.
• Plan courses and arrange plant hire when required.
• Support risk assessments and health and safety reporting.
