Job summary

Building Careers UK Ltd is seeking an experienced Operations Manager for highways and surfacing based in the North West. You will coordinate labour, plant, materials and subcontractors, ensuring works are properly planned and resourced while maintaining profitability.

The role centers on forward planning, procurement, supplier management and providing accurate cost information to the commercial team. You will work closely with site teams and Directors to optimize systems, reduce waste and drive

Qualifications

• Proven experience in operations, contracts or procurement within highways or civil engineering.
• Strong procurement and purchasing experience.
• Good knowledge of plant, materials (asphalt, aggregates) is advantageous.
• Excellent organisational and coordination skills.
• Strong commercial awareness and cost management.

Responsibilities

• Manage the forward programme of works and coordinate labour, plant, materials and subcontractors.
• Ensure projects are fully prepared before works commence.
• Coordinate access, traffic management and site requirements.
• Procure asphalt, aggregates, plant hire, haulage and subcontractors.
• Negotiate rates with suppliers and maintain supplier relationships.
• Monitor project expenditure and provide cost information to the team.
