Job summary

eRecruitSmart is recruiting Highways Operatives to join our highways vegetation team. You’ll work across the UK, primarily at night, cutting grass and clearing vegetation to keep road users safe and maintain traffic flow.

No previous experience is required and full training is provided. A full UK driving licence is desirable but not essential. The role offers guaranteed minimum 40 hours per week, overtime and a night-shift bonus, plus PPE, progression opportunities and long-term employment.

What You’ll Be Doing

Working on highways projects across the UK, you’ll help keep roadside vegetation safe and under control by:

• Cutting grass and clearing vegetation
• Operating strimmers, brushcutters and blowers
• Feeding woodchippers
• Assisting tree and hedge clearance teams
• General site maintenance and litter clearance
• Working safely as part of a professional team

Most work takes place at night, helping keep road users moving while works are carried out safely.

Who We’re Looking For

You may be a labourer, grounds worker, landscaper, farm worker, warehouse operative, construction worker or simply someone who enjoys practical outdoor work.

We’re looking for people who are:

• Reliable and willing to work hard
• Team players with a positive attitude
• Happy working outdoors in all weather
• Comfortable working night shifts
• Willing to travel to different work locations

No experience in highways? No problem.

Training can be provided for the right candidates.

A full UK driving licence is desirable but not essential.
