Job summary

Richmond and Wandsworth Councils is seeking a proactive Highways Supervisor to lead the Highways DSO team at the Central Depot in Twickenham. You will oversee day-to-day maintenance, coordinate operatives, agency staff, and contractors, and ensure works meet safety and quality standards.

The role includes budget liaison, approving purchases, and supporting digital transformation across the service, while maintaining strong customer focus and timely responses to Members and residents.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership and people-management experience in highway maintenance.
• Strong communication and reporting skills for internal and external stakeholders.
• Experience with risk assessments and safety compliance on highway works.

Responsibilities

• Supervise operatives, agency staff and contractors on highway works.
• Authorise expenditure, purchase orders and resource requirements within delegated limits.
• Conduct daily site inspections to ensure safety, efficiency and compliance with standards.
• Support budget forecasting, financial planning and performance monitoring.
• Lead the delivery of digital transformation and use of technology to improve service delivery.
