Job summary

Nottingham City Council is seeking a Highway Information Officer to help keep Nottingham’s highway network moving safely. The role requires coordinating the Permit Scheme, managing works on the highway, and processing TRO applications.

The ideal candidate will have strong communication, numerical and analytical skills, plus experience using IT systems to record and report information. Hybrid working and a supportive team environment are offered.

Qualifications

• Must have knowledge of highway management issues and techniques.
• Ability to coordinate works and activities on the highway, including Permit Scheme operations and TRO processing.
• Strong communication and customer service skills with ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
• Good written, numerical and analytical skills with ability to interpret information and maintain records.
• Confidence using IT systems and specialist applications to record and report information.
• Organisational skills to manage workload, deadlines and use initiative.
• Proactive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn about highway network management.

Responsibilities

• Support the operation of the Council’s Permit Scheme and coordinate highway works.
• Process Temporary Traffic Regulation Order applications efficiently.
• Communicate with colleagues, promoter organisations, utility companies, emergency services and the public.
• Record, manage and report information using IT systems and databases.
• Organise and prioritise own workload and work both independently and as part of a team.
