A leading engineering and operations firm in the UK is seeking a Highways Maintenance Operative Apprentice to join their team. This role offers hands-on experience in highway maintenance and traffic management, supported by a structured apprenticeship program. The ideal candidate will have a drive for success and must be at least 18 years old. Competitive starting salary and multiple benefits are included.
We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for a Highways Maintenance Operative Apprentice to join Area 12 based in Knottingley.
Starting Salary: £28,729.00 per annum (Subject to review)
Location: Shillinghill Depot, Knottingley, WF11 0BU
Working hours per week: Monday to Friday, Days and Nights. 07:00 – 15:00 Days, 19:00 – 05:00 Nights. 45 hr/week
Start date: April 2026

As part of your Apprenticeship, you will be enrolled onto a Lead Traffic Management Operative level 2 apprenticeship which will take approximately 21 months to complete. You will be fully supported by our partnered college to achieve this qualification, with 1-2-1 advice and support, e-learning materials, and a whole team of experts on hand for advice and technical knowledge at your office.
As a Highways Maintenance Operative, you will be hands-on with real world maintenance and response activities, gaining valuable experience that directly supports your apprenticeship. You will be a key part of a proactive team, tackling a variety of essential tasks that keep our roads safe and running smoothly, including:
