Job summary

Amey is offering a Highways Maintenance Operative role in Area 10 at Preston Brook Depot, Runcorn, Cheshire. You'll deliver routine and reactive highway maintenance, install and manage traffic management, and support emergency response.

The role involves 12-hour shifts on a 4-on, 4-off pattern, working days, nights, weekends, and winter maintenance. A full UK driving licence is required, with ideally highways maintenance experience.

Responsibilities

• Delivering routine and reactive highway maintenance works.
• Installing, maintaining and removing traffic management.
• Carrying out repairs to safety barriers, signs, fences, drainage systems and carriageways.
• Undertaking vegetation management and environmental maintenance activities.
• Operating vehicles, plant and equipment in accordance with training and company procedures.
• Supporting incident response and emergency call-out activities across the Area 10 network.
• Working safely and complying with all health, safety and environmental requirements.
• Completing work records and defect reporting accurately and in a timely manner.
• Contributing to a positive safety culture and delivering excellent customer service.

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Highways Maintenance Operative to join our Area 10 team based at Preston Brook Depot, Chesnut Lodge, Preston Brook, Runcorn, Cheshire, WA7 3AT.

Working with National Highways, Amey maintains and operates the strategic road network across the North West. As a Highways Maintenance Operative, you will play a key role in delivering routine and reactive maintenance activities, helping to keep customers moving safely and efficiently across the network.

The standard hours of work are 12-hour shifts on a 4-on, 4-off shift pattern, including days, nights, weekends and participation in winter maintenance and emergency response activities.

What you will be doing

We want to hear from you if you have

• Experience working within highways maintenance, construction, utilities or a similar operational environment.
• A strong commitment to health, safety and wellbeing.
• The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• A flexible approach to shift working and emergency response requirements.
• A full UK Driving Licence.

Ideally, you will also have

• Previous highways maintenance experience.
• Winter Maintenance experience.
• HGV/LGV Licence.
