Our area covers the northern part of North Yorkshire, including Richmond, Hawes, Leyburn, and Middleham. You will be working within the beautiful North Yorkshire Dales National Park, where the coast to coast intersects the Pennine Way with spectacular dales, crags, and waterfalls.

The Role

As a Maintenance Manager, you will liaise and collaborate with our delivery partners to develop positive relationships and improve delivery performance across our Highways North Yorkshire partnership. This role also involves fostering good relationships with Elected Members and the wider community of stakeholders.

The Highways Operations Unit is responsible for highway improvement and maintenance schemes, routine highway maintenance activities, winter maintenance services, local network management, and public liaison.

The main focus of the Maintenance Manager will be to lead the team to ensure highway safety compliance. Your responsibilities include:

  1. Assessing and identifying highway maintenance works, including drainage and surface treatments.
  2. Preparing design briefs that contribute to the delivery of the local capital programme, including monitoring and managing local budgets.
  3. Assisting in delivering winter services as a duty manager on a standby rota and handling emergencies.

This role may require occasional out-of-hours work.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to develop their career and management skills within the Highways Service and the Council. The role offers continuous learning and professional growth.

What you will bring
