Job summary

North East Lincolnshire Council is seeking a Highway Maintenance Engineer to lead planning, design and delivery of maintenance schemes across the borough. You will prepare technical reports, coordinate schemes and respond to public queries, ensuring high standards and timely delivery.

The role involves both office-based work and site inspections outdoors, with collaboration across services to minimise disruption to the highway network and improve local transport outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience in highway maintenance.
• Organised and able to manage competing priorities.
• Comfortable with office work and outdoor site inspections.
• Experience in inspections, surveys and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, coordinate and deliver highway maintenance schemes.
• Prepare technical reports contributing to programmed maintenance and network improvements.
• Identify and develop maintenance schemes; respond to public and stakeholder queries.
• Act as a key consultee on highway layout designs during planning.
• Coordinate cross-service delivery to minimise disruption on the highway network.
• Provide technical guidance to colleagues, Members and partners.
