Job summary

Executive Connect LTD is seeking a Highways Labourer to support civil engineering ground works on highways projects in maintenance or scheme environments. Hours are 8am to 4:30pm with a salary of 27,711.00 GBP.

The role involves carrying out duties in line with risk assessments, safe working procedures, and industry standards on highway schemes, including excavation and installation of street furniture with site coordination.

Qualifications

• Experience in highways or civil engineering ground works.

• Licence to drive or operate plant as required by the role.

Responsibilities

• Carry out duties in line with risk assessments, method statements and safe working procedures.
• Carry out standard daily vehicle checks, and maintenance.
• Co-operate with colleague(s) to ensure efficient teamwork.
• Carry out highways duties ensuring compliance with specifications, quality standards and current codes of practice.
• Excavation, laying subbase, base and wearing courses, concreting, paving and kerbing.
• Install street furniture and liaise with suppliers on site where necessary.
• Be prepared to work in all weather conditions.
• Comply with Data Protection Act, GDPR and related policies.
• Complete all necessary paperwork and utilise systems relating to the position.
• Erect and dismantle temporary traffic management including cones, signs, barriers, etc.
• Drive vehicle or plant licensed for or trained for as required.
• Plan and organise works from drawings and instructions.
• Liaise with supervisors, clients, public and colleagues.
• Undertake additional job training as necessary.
• Undertake duties commensurate with the grading of the post.

Highways Labourer

The position of Labourer will be filled by a person who is skilled and qualified to a minimum competency standard imposed by Highways Operations. They will execute a variety of tasks accepted throughout the industry for general highways/ civil engineering ground works in either a maintenance or scheme environment

Key responsibilities

• Carry out all duties in accordance line with risk assessments, method statements and safe working procedures.
• Carry out standard daily vehicle checks, and maintenance.
• Co-operate with colleague(s) to ensure efficient teamwork.
• To carry out all types of highways duties ensuring compliance with specification, quality standards, and in accordance with all current relevant codes of practice and legislation
• To carry out excavation, laying subbase to levels, laying base and wearing courses, concreting, laying small areas of paving and kerbing, etc
• To install all types of street furniture including signal poles, guard rails, litter bins, cycle racks, etc. and to liaise with suppliers on site where necessary
• Must be prepared to work in all weather conditions
