Highways Inspector needed in Bromley - Paying £19.01 per hr - ref 1558886

Full-time hours on a temporary basis

Role Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Highways Inspector to join our Highways team. You will play a key role in maintaining the safety and quality of the borough’s highway network through regular inspections, monitoring, and public liaison.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Conduct visual inspections of highway assets, identify defects, and raise work orders or defect notices.
  2. Investigate public enquiries, utility works, and claims, ensuring compliance with legislation and council policies.
  3. Liaise with contractors and utility companies to monitor works and ensure timely, quality repairs.
  4. Support legal processes by preparing reports, witness statements, and attending court when required.
  5. Participate in emergency response duties, including winter service operations.
  6. Assist in training new staff and contribute to continuous service improvement.
Ideal Requirements
  1. Experience in highways inspection or a related field.
  2. Knowledge of the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991.
  3. Strong communication and organisational skills.
  4. Ability to work independently, including outside normal hours when required.
  5. Familiarity with inspection software and reporting systems is desirable.
