Highways Inspector needed in Bromley Paying £19.01 per hr ref 1558886

Full time hours on a temporary basis

  • We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Highways Inspector to join our Highways team. You will play a key role in maintaining the safety and quality of the borough’s highway network through regular inspections, monitoring, and public liaison.

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Conduct visual inspections of highway assets, identify defects, and raise work orders or defect notices.
    • Investigate public enquiries, utility works, and claims, ensuring compliance with legislation and council policies.
    • Liaise with contractors and utility companies to monitor works and ensure timely, quality repairs.
    • Support legal processes by preparing reports, witness statements, and attending court when required.
    • Participate in emergency response duties, including winter service operations.
    • Assist in training new staff and contribute to continuous service improvement.
    Ideal requirementd:
    • Experience in highways inspection or a related field.
    • Knowledge of the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991.
    • Strong communication and organisational skills.
    • Ability to work independently, including outside normal hours when required.
    • Familiarity with inspection software and reporting systems is desirable.
