About The Role

We are seeking a HGV Highways Operative to join our team on our Highways workstream. You will work closely with another Highways Operative to clean along the highways, including Gully cleaning and highway drainage cleaning.

• Location: Penrith, Cumbria
• Hours: 50 hours per week (Monday to Friday, 6am-4pm day shift, flexibility required for night shifts)
• Salary: Up to £35,750 dependent on experience
• Weekly Pay

Responsibilities

• Training will be provided to operate Gully units, Urban Recyclers, and Recyclers used on the Highways contract.
• Plan routes with Traffic Management department.
• Inspect drainage systems for blockages, leaks, or damage.
• Use high-powered suction equipment to remove debris, silt, leaves, and waste.
• Maintain and operate vehicle machinery, including pumps, hoses, and suction equipment.
• Use electronic devices (laptop/tablet) for data entry.
• Report safety issues per company procedures.
• Perform routine maintenance on suction equipment.
• Ensure vehicle is roadworthy and safe at start of shift.

Requirements

• HGV Class 2 license (required)
• Driver's license with no more than 6 penalty points
