Role: Highways Engineer

Location: Welwyn Garden City

Salary: Up to £45k (DOE)

Our client is seeking to grow their busy infrastructure team with the appointment of a Highways Engineer to assist with flood risk assessment (FRA), drainage, and highway design. Projects range from small residential schemes to film production studios and new garden village settlements.

Ideal candidates will have 2-5 years' experience, primarily in consultancy work for private developers, and proficiency in drainage and 3D software. Responsibilities include preparing reports, drainage designs, S278 highway design, and supporting various projects under guidance from senior engineers.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting flood risk assessments across different sites and flood zones
  • Creating surface and foul water drainage strategies, including SuDS
  • Preparing detailed reports and hydraulic modelling
  • Designing below ground drainage and liaising with stakeholders
  • Making planning and highway applications, including S104/S106, EA consents, S278/S38
  • Designing highways using AutoCAD, including 2D drawings and 3D models

Knowledge/Experience required:

  • Experience producing drainage reports and flood risk assessments
  • Designing below ground drainage for various sectors to standards
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civils 3D, Microdrainage, Infodrainage
  • Experience in 3D modelling with Civil3D or similar
