Job description

Highways Development Control Engineer (Hybrid) - Stafford

Rate: £300 per day (PAYE) – Reference: 5266729

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Prepare and issue comments, advice, and recommendations related to highway/transportation aspects of planning applications.
  2. Coordinate with legal agreements, briefs, statutory undertakers, sub-consultants, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project progression.
  3. Present evidence for appeals and court proceedings under relevant legislation.
  4. Maintain good relations with members, stakeholders, and respond to queries regarding assigned projects.
  5. Participate in public consultations, meetings (sometimes outside regular hours), and utilize customer insights to improve highway services.
  6. Identify off-site highway works, including sustainable transport and traffic management, funded and constructed by developers, and handle related administrative duties.
  7. Analyze proposals for inclusion in Local Plans, audit Transport Assessments and Travel Plans.
  8. Engage in pre-application discussions with developers to promote sustainable estate street layouts.
  9. Maintain expertise in specialized skills and provide support as needed.
  10. Seek innovative, cost-effective solutions to enhance service quality.
  11. Comply with health and safety, environmental legislation, and statutory obligations.
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.
Role Details:

This is a full-time, temporary contract position.
